Gregory James, Sonoma Coast

As the image on the label indicates, essentially, Greg Adams is a farmer and farming the vines that his wines are made from is essential to the high quality and precision in site specificity that is the hallmark of Gregory James Wines. After a career which has taken him from vineyard development projects in Argentina, to some of the most prestigious wineries in Napa and Sonoma, for the last 12 years Greg has run his own vineyard management consulting business and is proud to have an outstanding list of winery and vineyard clients including Patz and Hall, Lynmar, Red Car & Freeman Winery. He is currently the Viticulturist and Winemaker for Baker Lane Vineyard as well as Gregory James Wines.
“I have an intimate relationship with the vineyards I manage,” says Greg, “Working daily with the fruit that I make into wine creates a unique opportunity for me to translate the vitality I taste from each vine into the bottle.” He is happy to source grapes for Gregory James Wines exclusively from vineyards that he manages. Where Greg grows and sources his grapes from is Sonoma County, from vineyards located within the maritime reach of the Pacific Ocean. Here, the cool foggy nights and mornings dramatically shroud the varied terrain producing grapes of remarkable intensity and character. The vineyard sites are tucked away among rolling hills, bucolic valleys and dramatic ridge tops of the West Sonoma Coast where each location tells its own story. Today Greg lives with his wife Andrea in the Freestone area of West Sonoma County.
We invite you to share in the hard won results of farming in the extreme coastal environment of the Pacific Ocean
